Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a public speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, media critic and award-winning feminist for over 10 years. She is the creator and director of executive for Feminist Frequency A scholarly, non-profit website which explores representations of women within popular culture narratives. Alongside working to highlight the problems surrounding the harassment and targeted attacks on women, as well as other minorities, she is determined to break the stereotypes in the pop culture. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in the fields of social thought and political science from York University. She is also a highly-respected public presenter. Sarkeesian delivered speeches to the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Inquiring about gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her own website Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was studying at the University.
